Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

Geraldine Primary School creates a positive school culture via the use of our four PB4L values. PB4L stands for Positive Behaviour for Learning.

 

The four school values that we use at GPS are

Achieving,

Responsible and

Respectful. 
 

We show Caring/Manaakitanga by:

• Being aware of other's feelings
• Looking after other children
• Helping tidy up
• Solving conflicts peacefully
• Looking after other people's belongings
• Taking pride in ourselves and our school

We show Achieving/Takakawe by:

• Trying our best
• Being positive
• Actively participating in all activities
• Celebrating success

We show Respectful/Whakaute by:

• Being considerate towards others
• Respecting property, equipment and the environment
• Using our manners
• Using respectful language

We show Responsible/Takohanga by:

• Looking after our own things
• Being honest
• Taking ownership of what we choose to do
• Being prepared for learning
• Solving problems in appropriate ways, such as using our WITS:
  - Walking Away
  - Ignoring
  - Talking it out
  - Seeking help

 

Students who show our school values are rewarded with gotchas. These can be given out in the classroom, playground, on school trips by all members of staff. Once a student earns four of these they can post them into our school draw. Each fortnight, six students names are drawn out at school assembly, and they get to choose a prize. Students are also rewarded with a postcard and small reward each time they reach every 20 gotchas. When a student reaches 100 gotchas they can earn a wristband with our school values on it.
